Pros:
- Push button is always a very convenient addition for the user experience. Though micromotor contra angled handpieces come with latch type system, which is also convenient compared to chuck system of airotor handpieces.
- It has a small head, which is also an advantage in posterior areas.
- Like all low speed handpieces, it minimizes heat generation.
Uses:
- It is commonly used in post space preparation using GG files.
- Another common use is polishing of tooth/teeth after Oral prophylaxis etc.
- It is used for polishing of restorations (viz. composite restoration) using composite finishing burs or discs.
- It can be used for caries removal and tooth preparation, though a airotor handpiece is a better option.
Review of Krafit Contra Angle Micromotor Handpiece
Marathon has been synonyms with micromotors for decades now. It’s micromotor handpieces, both straight & contra-angled have also been used in clinics and laboratories. Unlike airotor handpieces, micromotor handpieces last longer and require far lesser maintenance.
My tip will be to use 2 separate micromotor contra-angled handpieces, one for polishing using a polishing paste, another for other uses, like post space preparation, composite finishing etc. The paste of the polishing paste, enters the head and damages it in the long term.
The moment you see wobbling of the bur, get the handpiece checked.
I have used Marathon, NSK and Waldent micromotor contra-angled handpieces and find all 3 to have comparable results in the short term, Waldent being slightly louder in operation but also the cheapest.
Krafit Contra Angle Micromotor Handpiece, is quieter with a very smooth cartridge for perfect user experience.
