My review of D-Pulp

There are multiple brands of pulp devitalizer available in the market.

Paraformaldehyde is used to fix the pulp. This devitalizes the pulp.

In most of my cases, I prefer not to use any pulp devitalizer, but if and when it is required, D-Pulp does the job efficiently.

Some points to remember :

  • Use minimal quantity. Excess may leech out. This may cause cytotoxicity of tissues and/or necrosis of bone.
  • Close the cavity immediately with a temporary or definitive cement.
  • If pain is observed while applying D-pulp, local anaesthetic can be injected into the exposed pulp.

Once opened, it should be used as fast as possible, preferably within a year. Between use, close the lid tightly, otherwise the consistency of the paste changes.
