Impreceed Alginate Impression Material is manufactured in Japan by GC Corporation, Tokyo.
- Available as powder in 454 gm bag.
- Long shelf life on 48 months or 4 years.
- Dust free alginate impression material.
- Spearmint smell.
Pros:
- Dust free.
Cons:
- As it is available only in 454 gms package, one doesn’t get the advantage to try out the product in a smaller quantity before ordering in bulk.
- Similarly, regular users might feel hard done for not being able to order a larger pack, so as to reduce their cost.
Direction for use:
- Use the following powder and water ratios to mix the alginate
- Use distilled or deionised water for best results.
Mixing time | 20 -30 sec |
Total working time | 90 sec |
Minimum mouth time | 120 sec |
Setting time | 180 sec |
- The powder is added to water. The powder mixes rapidly with water within 3-4 sec, thereby giving you enough time to spatulate and get a creamy consistent mix.
- Manufacturer suggests that the impression should be poured immediately. If that is not possible, the impression should be wrapped in a wet paper towel and kept in a sealed plastic bag.
- Once the package is opened, the material should be transferred to a tightly closing container and not mixed with other brands of alginate.
- Impreceed should be stored between 4-23 °C in a cool dry place.
Review of Impreceed Alginate Impression Material
The biggest advantage of Impreceed Alginate Impression Material, is the speed at which the powder mixes with water (3-4 sec). This allows you enough time to spatulate and form a creamy consistent mix. And you will require the extra time to spatulate as Impreceed takes a few seconds extra of spatulation to get the proper consistency. For someone mixing Impreceed for the first might find it slightly disappointing to not get the consistency fast. This is a small learning curve and is easily mastered.
The mixed alginate though looks similar to most other brands. It can be as easily placed and seated in the mouth.
The set alginate can be removed from the mouth without much difficulty.
I though have seen Impreceed is unable to flow into deeper undercut areas and for some reason is too rigid and ‘crumbly’ for a alginate.
If you are looking to make diagnostic cast, Impreceed can be an option but there are better options available in the market at similar prices or even lower like Algitex.
