Fluoritop SR Neo is a single dose slow release topical dental fluoride by ICPA.
- 5% w/v sodium fluoride IP.
- Alcohol based varnish.
- 0.4 ml single dose sachet.
- 22600 ppm fluoride.
- Shelf life of 2 years.
Indications:
- Prevention of rampant caries, nursing bottle caries.
- Prior to and during orthodontic treatment in high risk caries patients.
- Chair side treatment of dentinal hypersensitivity.
- Caries due to dryness of mouth & radiation induced caries, root caries in elderly patients.
- Prevention of caries post IPR (Interproximal reduction) during aligner treatment.
- Limited use of preventing or reducing white spots during orthodontic treatment.
Pros:
- This is a single dose version. This prevent cross contamination for patients.
- Long shelf life of 2 years.
Cons:
- It is a 0.4 mL pack, which is adequate for adolescents and for treatment of permanent dentition. For patients with only primary dentition, 0.25 mL of varnish is required. This leads to wastage of varnish.
- Requires reapplication every 90 days for most cases.
Directions for use:
- The idea is to keep the varnish on the teeth for as long as possible (at least 4 hours).
- Regular tooth brushing & flossing may be adequate before applying the varnish. In some situations, proper oral prophylaxis may have to be completed before applying the varnish.
- A cotton-tip applicator provided in the pack is adequate to apply the varnish on all the tooth surfaces. You can use a floss to ensure that the varnish reaches into the inter-proximal areas.
- Total application should be completed in 1-4 minutes.
- The teeth to be treated should be dried and moisture contamination should be controlled using cotton rolls.
- The varnish should be applied in a thin film.
- As the varnish sets by moisture, after the application is complete, saliva should be allowed to touch the varnish. In case of a patient with reduced salivary flow, patient can be asked to rinse with water gently.
- Patient should be asked to avoid food, brushing, flossing or alcohol for next 4 hours at least after application of the varnish.

Fluoritop SR Neo is a fluoride varnish from ICPA. Fluoritop is also available as a mouthrinse and as drops for application directly on the teeth. Fluoritop SR Neo is very similar to the drops, just a gel based, easy to apply form.
It is available in a user friendly pack for one time use. This makes it very convenient. Also the gel form provides ease of controlled application.
