Smart Prep Liquid (SafeEndo) is a EDTA solution used in Root Canal Treatment in Dentistry.
- 17% Disodium EDTA
- 0.7% Cetrimide
- 100 ml bottle
Indications:
- Irrigation & chelating agent in root canal treatment.
- Aids in detection of root canal orifices.
- Chemically aids in enlargement of root canal during RCT.
Pros:
- Removes inorganic substances like dentinal chips by chelating with the calcium in the dentine.
- Removes the smear layer.
- Unplugs the dentinal tubules.
Cons:
- Can cause allergy
- Drug idiosyncrasy.
Direction to use:
- For every canal,1 ml of liquid should be used to irrigate it for 1 minute. If possible a agitator can be used to agitate and activate the liquid.
- If mechanical preparation is to be done, liquid should be in the canal while preparing.
- The procedure can be optimised by use of side vented needles in leur lock syringes and under rubber dam isolation.
- It should be stored between 5°-25°C in a well sealed container.
- It has a shelf life of 3 years.

Smart Prep Liquid (SafeEndo) is a dental cleaning solution, used for debridement of root canal during root canal treatment.
It’s presentation is in liquid form, similar to Desmear from Anabond Stedman Pharma Research (P) Ltd.
Just as in Desmear, Smart Prep can be used at the end of treatment for final cleaning of root canal or during the bio-mechanical preparation itself.
Though similar in action and price, Desmear gives 50% extra quantity for the same price.
