Caulk Tray Adhesive is a tray adhesive used before making impressions with elastomeric impression materials.
- VPS tray adhesive
- 14 mL bottle
- Flammable
- Paint on type
How to use:
Caulk Tray Adhesive can be painted on the stock or custom tray directly using the brush available in the bottle.
Before you apply the tray adhesive, ensure that the tray is clean of any debris, blood and saliva. Then you should completely dry the tray of any moisture.
Once you have applied the tray adhesive, it is allowed to air dry for 10-15 minutes. Do not use compressed air to dry. Once dry, impression can be made.
Remember to apply behind the tray & at the borders too. This enables the impression material to stick to the tray.
Always close the cap properly immediately after use or the material will become thicker and difficult to apply.
It should be stored away from sunlight between a temperature of 18-27°C.
Review of Caulk Tray Adhesive
I have used Caulk for over a month now. It should be used as a tray adhesive only with VPS impression materials of Dentsply Sirona for best results.
I prefer to use tray adhesives mostly with my custom trays.
TIP – Always use tray adhesive, if you are using plastic trays to make your impression.
Caulk does it’s job. One thing that I don’t like about Caulk is the film thickness of the adhesive, which seems to be thicker than VPS Tray adhesive from 3M ESPE. A thicker film thickness means more pooling of material and difficulty in drying of adhesives. Studies have found distortions occurring in the impression due to a thick or uneven layer of tray adhesive.
